Lake Naivasha is the best plan to run away from chaotic Nairobi in weekends. This quite paradise offers a wide range of activities, from hiking mountains or gorges, riding in natural reserves or exploring an island full of wildlife. Lake Naivasha serves as a complete resort for residents of Nairobi.
Note that swimming in the lake is forbidden as water is infected by bilharzia.
The climate is warm during the day but with fresh temperatures at nights.
Flower industry. Lake Naivasha also highlight due to its flower industry, specially roses, which are picked here in the early morning and can be at Europe's flower auctions the same day. In 2016, the industry generated US$141 million in revenues for the country, making it one of Kenya's most important foreign exchange earners.

Fisherman’s Camp. Make a fire meanwhile wait for hippos grazing in the shores of the lake. Camp fees from 800 KES. Great facilities, power, hot shower, firewood (300 KES) and bar.
Santuary Farm. They have converted a stable yard into ten beautifully and originally designed contemporary rooms.

Matteo's Italian restaurant. Great pasta and pizzas near the gate to Sanctuaryy Farm.
Carnelys. A quite terrace to enjoy stone oven pizzas. They don't accept credit cards.

What to do
Boat ride in Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha has many different types of wildlife with a good portion of hippos and fish including Crayfish, Tilapia and Black bass. There are 400 species of birds of which Great Cormorants, Long-tailed, Fish Eagles, Pelicans and all types of Kingfishers as well as the Grey-backed fiscal are some. Prcies from 20 USD / person.

Wildlife sighted. Buffalos, Zebras, Warthogs, Gazelles, Impala, baboons and giraffes and there are over 100 species of birds in the park, including vultures, Verreaux's Eagles, augur buzzard and swifts.
Others you might see: hartebeest, eland, Chandler’s mountain reedbuck and klipspringer antelope.
This park is accessible via Elsa Gate on the Lake Naivasha Road South at a junction 5 km south of the town. There is other gate in the west of the park, Olkaria Gate.

Bikes can be rent in the gate or in some of the near lodges such as Fisherman's camp from 800 KES. Hiring a bicycle by the Elsa Gate costs you 500 KES. In the event you bring a bicycle from outside, a fee of 215 KES is charged. The way to the gorge takes 1-2 hours and very easy difficulty.

To hike the gorge a guide is not mandatory. The hike is circular (you can leave bikes at the entrance) and quite slippery. In the end you will find some local shops to buy souvenirs.

Extinct volcano and crater forest, Scenic Landscape with views of lake Naivasha and the Great Rift Valley. The park is also a paradise for birds of prey.
